Seven Arrested in Columbus Underage Tobacco and Vape Operation
COLUMBUS, Ga.—Seven individuals have been arrested and charged with furnishing tobacco to a minor following an underage compliance operation conducted by the Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations Unit on Friday, August 29.
The operation was conducted to ensure businesses comply with the state law that prohibits the sale of tobacco and vape products to anyone under the age of 21.
Those arrested and charged were:
- Elizabeth Walker, 42 – 101 Smoke Shop
- Radulkumar Chaudhari, 58 – Vista Convenience
- Nareshbhai Chaudhari, 62 – Eagle Food & Lotto
- Sumit (no last name), 34 – Exxon
- Tamem Al-Shawih, 39 – Tobacco & Vapor 2
- Dominique Adkinson, 31 – Sky Tobacco & Vape
- Gurvinder Singh, 47 – Lumpkin Food Mart
The Columbus Police Department stated that it will continue to conduct compliance checks to help prevent the sale of these products to minors.
