Bibb County Special Investigation Unit Receives Top Drug Enforcement Award

BIBB COUNTY, Ga.—The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Special Investigation Unit has been honored with the 2025 Joseph Whitehead Jr. Award at the Georgia Narcotics Officers’ Association (GNOA) Conference.
The prestigious award recognizes a law enforcement officer, unit, or agency that has demonstrated investigative excellence in the field of drug enforcement. It is named in honor of Investigator Joseph Whitehead Jr., a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigator who was killed in the line of duty in 2006.
Captain Derrick Henderson stated, “This award is not just a recognition of our work, it is a tribute to the legacy of Investigator Joseph Whitehead Jr. and a reminder of the mission we all continue to uphold in his honor.”
The GNOA conference was held on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
