Atlanta Sees Multiple Shootings Over Labor Day Weekend

ATLANTA—Atlanta police responded to a series of shootings over the long Labor Day weekend, which resulted in at least three fatalities and several injuries.
On Saturday, August 30, officers found a man who had died from a gunshot wound at 1568 Jonesboro Rd SE. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation. Later that evening, a 60-year-old man was shot and injured at 315 Hills Ave. SW, in an incident believed to be related to a drug dispute.
On Sunday, August 31, a 26-year-old man was shot at 415 Fairburn Rd. SW during a verbal dispute. A suspect, Thaddeus Cullins, 23, was taken into custody with charges pending. In a separate incident on Sunday, a 41-year-old male was shot near Lakewood Ave. SW and Nelms Dr. SW. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition, and police are investigating if the shooting was carried out by a known suspect.
On Labor Day, September 1, two separate fatal shootings were reported. At approximately 5:06 a.m., a 46-year-old male was found deceased from a gunshot wound at 2400 Campbellton Rd. SW. Later, at approximately 3:23 a.m., a 16-year-old male was found deceased from gunshot wounds at 465 Mulberry Row SE. Homicide detectives are investigating both incidents.
