Juvenile Arrested in Connection with Active Shooter Hoax at Macon School

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with a false active shooter report at Ballard Hudson Middle School located at 1070 Anthony Rd in Macon on Friday afternoon.
The call came in at 2:46 p.m. to the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center. The caller claimed to be inside a bathroom at the school and reported an ongoing shooting. Deputies rushed to the scene, quickly cleared the building, and confirmed there was no threat. All staff and students were found safe.
Working with Board of Education Police, investigators traced the call and identified the suspect near Bloomfield Road and Elkan Avenue just after 3:30 p.m. He was taken into custody and transported back to the school for further investigation before being turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division.
The juvenile, a Macon resident, was later booked into the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center. He is charged with Misuse of Emergency-911, Disrupting a Public School, and Felony Terroristic Threats.
Authorities said the investigation remains active.
