Man Arrested, Another Wanted in Hawkinsville Shooting

HAWKINSVILLE, Ga.—The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested one man and is seeking another in connection with an aggravated assault investigation that took place in Hawkinsville on August 21.

The GBI, which is assisting the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, has charged Nickelas Adams, 21, of Warner Robins, with one count of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. They have also obtained arrest warrants for David Walker, 20, of Hawkinsville, for two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

According to preliminary information, at approximately 4:10 p.m. on August 21, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person who had been shot at 1st Franklin Financial. When deputies arrived, they found Adams and another man in the parking lot. The man with Adams had been shot multiple times and was taken to the hospital. A silver 2024 Toyota Corolla also had multiple bullet holes.

During a search of nearby neighborhoods, deputies found numerous cartridge cases on Jelks Street, which led them to believe a mutual exchange of gunfire had taken place between two groups. The circumstances that led to the shooting are currently unknown.

Adams was taken into custody at the scene and is being held at the Pulaski County Law Enforcement Center. The investigation is active and ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
