Bremen Man Dies from Gunshot Wound; Haralson County Deputies, GBI Investigating

HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. – Deputies responded to the 1800 block of Old Ridgeway Road on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 4:33 p.m. after reports of a gunshot wound.

On arrival, deputies located a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. First responders provided life-saving measures before transporting him to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Jason Richard Rakestraw of Bremen.

The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division obtained a search warrant and began processing the scene. Due to its complexity, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist.

At this time, the cause of death is believed to be a gunshot wound, though the manner of death has not yet been determined.

Sheriff Stacy Williams issued condolences to the victim’s family and confirmed the case remains under active investigation.
