Lavonia Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting at Clear Creek Apartments

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 8:53 a.m., the Lavonia Police Department responded to reports of a gunshot wound at the Clear Creek Apartments, located at 1 Clubhouse Way in Lavonia.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased male inside an apartment in the 200 building of the complex. The victim was identified as Eric Thompson, 31. Witnesses at the scene provided a description of the suspect, and a lookout was immediately broadcast to surrounding agencies through Franklin County 911 Dispatch.

A short time later, a Georgia State Patrol Trooper located a subject matching the description near a local hotel. The individual, identified as Christavier Mikequez “Quez” Brown, was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Franklin County Detention Center.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to process the crime scene. Lavonia Police investigators are securing arrest warrants for Brown on charges of Aggravated Assault, Felony Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Tampering with Evidence.

The Lavonia Police Department thanked the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Department of Public Safety Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and Franklin County EMS for their assistance in the case.
