Thrush Aircraft Crashes During Test Landing at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport

ALBANY, Ga. — On Monday, August 18, 2025, a Thrush aircraft crashed during a test landing at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport when its landing gear sheared off upon touchdown.

Only the pilot was on board at the time of the crash and was uninjured. First responders from the Airport Police Department, Albany Fire Department, Albany Police Department, and EMS quickly arrived on scene.

The airport is currently closed to air traffic and will remain so until the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) approves the removal of the aircraft from the runway. Flight delays and cancellations are expected. Passengers are advised to check with Delta for updates on flight availability.
