Suspect Arrested in June Fairburn Heights Shooting That Killed Teen
On June 6, 2025, at approximately 5:49 p.m., officers responded to 3691 Collier Drive NW in the Fairburn Heights area after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found an 18-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
Investigators from the Homicide Unit later identified a suspect in connection with the shooting. On August 14, 2025, 20-year-old Tije Marijas Sorells was taken into custody in Cobb County and extradited to Atlanta.
Sorells faces charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. The investigation remains active.
