Stephens County Deputies Arrest Multiple Suspects in Series of Burglaries, Fugitive Sweep

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies responded to a suspected burglary at a residence on Shady Lane in Toccoa. A family member checking the property after the owner’s recent death reported signs of forced entry and missing firearms, jewelry, and identifying documents.
Investigators identified Brandon Lee Threlkeld, 32, of Toccoa, as a suspect, obtaining warrants for Burglary in the 1st Degree and Criminal Trespass.
On Monday, August 4, 2025, deputies arrested Sydnie Alexander, 26, of Toccoa, after a suspicious person call on Phillips Road. She was charged in connection with the Shady Lane burglary and a separate burglary on Lake Louise Road between August 2–4. Charges include Burglary, multiple counts of Criminal Trespass, Criminal Damage to Property in the 2nd Degree, Entering Auto with Intent to Commit Theft, and Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony.
Authorities confirmed Threlkeld was with Alexander during the Phillips Road incident but evaded capture. On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, deputies attempted to serve a warrant at a Davis Avenue residence. Information gathered at the scene led to the arrest of Courtney Bohannon, 52, of Toccoa, for Tampering with Evidence. A search of the residence resulted in the arrests of four other fugitives with felony probation and parole violation warrants: Nichole Mote, 35; Austin Goggans, 24; William Smith, 34; and Stephen Maye, 41, all of Toccoa.
On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:24 p.m., deputies located Threlkeld during a traffic stop on Big A Road and Rock Creek Road. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Stephens County Jail. He now faces additional charges related to the Lake Louise Road burglary, including Burglary in the 1st Degree, Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony, and Entering Auto with Intent to Commit Theft.
The SCSO investigation remains active with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Toccoa Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, and Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
