Savannah Man Arrested After K9 Locates Nearly 27 Pounds of Drugs Near Home

SAVANNAH, GA — On Thursday, July 25, 2025, Savannah Police officers arrested 32-year-old Timothy Simpson on multiple felony drug charges following a coordinated investigation with the Chatham Savannah Narcotics Team (CNT).

At approximately 4:00 p.m., SPD officers and CNT investigators responded to public tips and detained Simpson in the 10 block of Hughes Avenue while preparing to execute a search warrant. Inside the residence, law enforcement located approximately 7.5 pounds of marijuana edibles, 0.5 pounds of psilocybin mushroom edibles, and about 2 pounds of marijuana.

A Savannah Police K9 Unit was deployed during the operation and alerted officers to additional contraband outside the residence. A further search uncovered approximately 16.9 pounds of marijuana nearby.

Simpson was arrested and charged with trafficking illegal drugs and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. The case remains under investigation.
