Traffic Stop in Hiawassee Leads to Two Meth Trafficking Arrests

TOWNS COUNTY, GA – Following a two-week investigation and surveillance effort, the Towns County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals on multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop on Berrong Street in Hiawassee.
On July 26, 2025, Drug Investigator Keanu Nguyen and K-9 Dargo conducted the stop and developed probable cause to search the vehicle. The search led to the discovery of methamphetamine that field-tested positive.
Anna Marie Adams, 42, of Hiawassee, was arrested and charged with:
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
- Misdemeanor Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects
- Felony Crossing Guard Lines with Drugs
- Misdemeanor Improper Display of License Plate
- Misdemeanor Unsafe/Improperly Equipped Vehicle
Maurice Sanchez, 59, of Young Harris, was arrested and charged with:
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
- Misdemeanor Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects
- Misdemeanor Open Container in Vehicle
