One Dead, Ten Injured in Mass Shooting in the Sweet Auburn area of Atlanta

On Monday, July 28, 2025, at approximately 1:27 a.m., Atlanta Police officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire at 349 Edgewood Avenue SE, near a streetcar stop in the Sweet Auburn area.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. He was later identified as 27-year-old Santos J. Wyatt.

As the investigation began, additional 911 calls reported more gunshot victims in the area. Officers discovered a total of ten other gunshot victims — seven males and three females. All surviving victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One of the victims, an 18-year-old male, remains in critical condition.

Preliminary findings indicate that the shooting followed a dispute involving a group of suspects, believed to be three males and one female, which escalated into gunfire.

Homicide investigators are actively reviewing surveillance footage, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses. The case remains open and ongoing.
