Man Stabbed to Death in College Park; Suspect Captured Within Hours

On July 26, 2025, officers with the City of College Park Police Department responded to a stabbing on the 1800 block of Southampton Road in College Park, Georgia. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim lying in the grass with a stab wound to the chest. The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
Detectives identified Jorge Ortega as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of Murder with Malice. Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen activated his Elite Fugitive Unit to assist in locating Ortega.
The fugitive unit tracked Ortega to Gwinnett County. In coordination with Gwinnett County Sheriff Kebo Taylor and Gwinnett Police Chief JD McClure, all three agencies collaborated to apprehend the suspect.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 26, Jorge Ortega was taken into custody within eight hours of the stabbing. He is currently being held in the Clayton County Jail awaiting trial.
