Two Dead in Tragic Atlanta Incident Involving Gunshot, Vehicle Collision

ATLANTA, GA – A tragic incident in southwest Atlanta on Sunday, July 21, 2025, resulted in the deaths of two individuals after a male driver, apparently shot while driving, lost control of his vehicle and struck a female pedestrian.

Atlanta Police officers were flagged down around 12:44 a.m. at 3083 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW, initially responding to what appeared to be a vehicle accident. Upon closer inspection, officers discovered a male inside the vehicle unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by EMS personnel, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the male was shot while driving. After sustaining the gunshot wound, he accelerated, fatally striking a female. The female, who was not near the initial shooting location, was pronounced deceased by EMS services.

Both decedents were removed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner. Homicide investigators responded to the scene and are actively working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
