Suspect Arrested in January Homicide on Fisher Road SE in Benteen Park Area

ATLANTA, GA – Atlanta Police have arrested Jonathan Lawson, 34, in connection with a homicide that occurred on January 9, 2025, at 1940 Fisher Road SE in the Benteen Park area. Lawson was taken into custody on July 11, 2025, with assistance from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

Lawson faces charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He has been transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing.

The incident in question occurred at approximately 10:42 PM on January 9, when officers responded to a report of a person shot at the Fisher Road SE address. Upon arrival, they found a 35-year-old male who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Investigators with the Homicide Unit have been working on the case since January. The investigation remains ongoing.
