One Arrested, Two At Large in Midtown Atlanta Pedestrian Robbery and Carjacking

ATLANTA, GA – Atlanta Police have arrested one suspect following a pedestrian robbery and carjacking that occurred in Midtown Atlanta on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, around 11:45 p.m. Two additional suspects remain at large as the investigation continues.

Officers responded to 972 Myrtle Street, where two victims reported being robbed at gunpoint and carjacked by three armed male suspects. The victims stated that the suspects approached them on foot, brandished firearms, and demanded their keys, wallets, and phones. The victims complied, and the suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle.

Units immediately began canvassing the area and reviewing nearby surveillance footage. During the investigation, officers located the stolen vehicle traveling near Leet Street SW in Zone 4. With supervisory approval due to the recent carjacking, units initiated a pursuit of the vehicle.

During the pursuit, two suspects exited and fled on foot, along with the driver, who was later identified as 23-year-old Ernest Jones. The victims positively identified Jones as one of the suspects. Officers recovered a replica BB gun, personal items, and stolen financial cards from Jones’s possession.

Jones faces multiple charges including Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, Theft by Taking (Felony), Possession of a Firearm during a Felony, Financial Transaction Card Theft, Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property, Driving without a License, Failure to Maintain Lane, Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, Striking a Fixed Object, and Obstruction. He was transported to Grady detention.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are still searching for the two remaining suspects.
