GBI Investigates Death of Missing Norcross Man Found in Towns County

TOWNS COUNTY, GA – At the request of the Towns County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents are investigating the death of Phat Tan Bui, 38, of Norcross, whose body was discovered inside his van on Bell Mountain.

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Towns County deputies located a van belonging to Bui in the Bell Mountain parking area. Deputies confirmed that Bui had been reported missing by his family out of Gwinnett County on July 18, 2025. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies found Bui deceased inside. The GBI was then requested to assist with the death investigation.

Preliminary information suggests that there was no foul play involved in Bui’s death. His body has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
