Macon Man Charged with Kidnapping, Rape in Eisenhower Parkway Attack

MACON, GA – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, aided by the Strategic Information Center and the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Taskforce, has arrested a suspect in connection with a kidnapping and sexual assault investigation that occurred on July 15, 2025.

The incident was reported just before midnight on a Tuesday evening on Eisenhower Parkway. According to the victim, an individual in a white sports utility vehicle offered a ride as the victim was walking near Fulton Mill Road. When the victim refused and continued walking, the individual allegedly approached from behind, brandished and fired a firearm when the victim attempted to run. Though not struck by gunfire, the victim was physically and sexually assaulted by the suspect.

The suspect then transported the victim to a convenience store on Sardis Church Road. There, the victim was able to escape and call 911. The suspect fled the area upon realizing the victim had gone.

Investigators identified Antonio Eugene Copeland, 47, of Macon, as a suspect. On Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025, Copeland was taken into custody without incident after a search and arrest warrant was executed at a Macon residence.

Copeland was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters for further investigation before being moved to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center. He has been charged with Kidnapping and Rape and is currently being held without bond.
