Forsyth County Man Caught with Drugs and Arsenal After K9 Traffic Stop

A traffic stop earlier this month in Forsyth County led to the arrest of Martin Ponce and the discovery of a large quantity of drugs and firearms.
On July 9, 2025, a member of the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force (LRDTF) and his K9 partner, Eko, conducted a traffic stop on Ponce after observing a violation. K9 Eko alerted on the vehicle, and deputies found approximately one pound and five ounces of methamphetamine and a firearm.
Agents obtained a search warrant for Ponce’s residence based on observations made during the stop. The search yielded an additional four ounces of methamphetamine, nine ounces of marijuana, 3.5 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, drug-related items, 20 firearms, and a black Ram truck.
Ponce was charged with:
- Trafficking Methamphetamine
- Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
- Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
- Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of Drug Related Items
- Window Tint Violation
- Driving While License Suspended
The investigation was conducted by the LRDTF, which is composed of deputies and officers from surrounding jurisdictions.
