Multi-State Fraud Ring Busted: 15 Arrested in Monroe County’s ‘Operation Fall Guy’

MONROE COUNTY, GA – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced progress in “Operation Fall Guy,” an investigation launched on March 20, 2025, aimed at dismantling a widespread fraud operation. The scheme involved 57 suspects who allegedly stole from businesses and individuals across the United States through identity theft fraud, forgery, and the printing and execution of fictitious checks.

Investigators have identified 14 victims and uncovered a total of 272 altered checks, with multiple banks being utilized by the suspects. The total amount attempted to be fraudulently obtained reached $2.1 million.

As of this press release, investigators have secured 123 warrants for the identified suspects, and 15 individuals are currently in custody.
