Man Arrested in Monroe County Land Scam
MONROE COUNTY, GA – Tommy Thomason has been arrested after allegedly defrauding a victim of $35,000 by selling a parcel of land he did not own in Monroe County. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the possible scam on July 14, 2025.
After speaking with the victim, investigators confirmed the fraudulent transaction. Authorities then set up a meeting with Thomason at the property in question. An undercover investigator, posing as a friend of the victim, accompanied the victim to the meeting.
Following the meeting, investigators converged on the location and placed Thomason under arrest without incident. He was then transported to the Monroe County Jail.
