Teenager Killed in Collision with Deputy’s Patrol Car in Hazlehurst

HAZLEHURST, GA – A 19-year-old Hazlehurst man, Jadian Jamire Bouie, died Friday, July 4, 2025, after the dirt bike he was driving collided with a Toombs County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle at the intersection of Wilson and Kersey Street. The deputy involved, Devin Spikes, was uninjured.
At approximately 2:38 P.M., Toombs County 911 Dispatch was notified by Deputy Spikes, who advised he was involved in a wreck. Deputy Spikes immediately began rendering aid to Bouie and initiated CPR, continuing until Jeff Davis County deputies and emergency medical services arrived. Bouie was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to a preliminary investigation by the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT), Deputy Spikes was en route to begin his shift in Toombs County, traveling north on Wilson Street. He reportedly came to a complete stop at the four-way intersection of Wilson and Kersey Street, observing no other vehicles. As his patrol vehicle was about to clear the second lane of the intersection, it was impacted on the driver’s rear side by a dirt bike driven by Bouie, who was traveling west on Kersey Street.
Preliminary evidence suggests Bouie was speeding above the posted 25 MPH limit, failed to stop, and failed to yield at the intersection. Based on the damage to both vehicles and Bouie’s injuries, it was determined he was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed.
The GSP SCRT will complete the investigation. Authorities have asked the community to keep Bouie’s family and Deputy Spikes in their prayers during this difficult time.
