Man Convicted in 2021 Baseball Bat Attack That Killed One, Injured Another in Nashville, Georgia

NASHVILLE, GA – A Berrien County jury has found Jared Dean Zisman guilty of multiple charges in connection with a 2021 double assault that left one person dead and another critically injured.

On July 24, 2021, officers from the Nashville Police Department responded to a residence on South Davis Street after a 911 caller reported he had killed his family with a baseball bat and added, “the job’s not done.” Responding officers made contact with the caller, identified as Jared Zisman, who was taken into custody without incident.

Inside the home, police found a male victim deceased in a bedroom from severe head trauma and a female victim in another room suffering from significant injuries. The woman was transported to a hospital, and the rapid response by Berrien County EMS was credited with saving her life.

Following a detailed investigation by the Nashville Police Department, Zisman was charged in the attack. His trial began on July 7, 2025, in the Superior Court of Berrien County. On July 8, the jury returned guilty verdicts for Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and two counts of Aggravated Assault. Sentencing will take place at a later date.

The Nashville Police Department expressed appreciation to the Alapaha Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, GBI, and local emergency services for their coordinated efforts in the case.
