Waycross Man Found Hiding in Ventilation System Arrested for Shooting at Officer

Daquan White, 20, of Waycross, was arrested on July 8, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m. after a SWAT operation at a residence in the 300 block of Garlington Avenue.

Waycross Police Department (WPD) negotiators attempted to persuade White to surrender for about two hours before the department’s SWAT team entered the residence. White was located hiding inside the apartment’s ventilation system.

White was wanted in connection with an aggravated assault on a police officer that occurred on June 28, 2025, during a vehicle pursuit. During the incident, White allegedly fired multiple shots at a pursuing officer, striking the patrol car several times.

He is also a suspect in multiple other violent felony cases. Authorities stated that additional felony charges are expected.

The investigation is ongoing.
