Marquise Ford

On July 1, 2025, a convicted felon was arrested after deputies with the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) stopped a Hyundai Kona for an equipment violation on Interstate 16 during Operation Zero Tolerance.

The driver, identified as Marquise Ford, who is currently on probation and a convicted felon, was unable to produce a valid driver’s license and gave deputies a false date of birth.

When asked if he had anything illegal in the vehicle, Ford reportedly told deputies, “Go ahead and lock me up,” then placed his hands behind his back and said, “I’m going to jail.” As deputies attempted to detain him, Ford struggled but was ultimately placed in handcuffs. A female passenger in the vehicle was heard telling Ford to stop moving and shouted that he was “pissing her off.”

Ford admitted to having marijuana, a gun, and pills in the vehicle, claiming, “It is all mine.”

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed seven bags of marijuana weighing approximately one pound, a clear bag containing around 45 multicolored pills believed to be Ecstasy, and a loaded black Extar rifle equipped with a Sig Sauer red dot optic. The rifle contained 24 rounds of 9mm ammunition with one in the chamber.

Ford was arrested and transported to the Twiggs County Jail. Charges are pending.
