Roof Collapses During Fire at BP Gas Station in Athens

On Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2025, Athens-Clarke County firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire at the BP gas station on Jefferson Road.

Upon arrival, crews observed smoke and flames coming from the back corner of the building. Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack, but the fire quickly escalated, resulting in a partial roof collapse.
