Waycross Police Officer Shot At During Pursuit; Suspects Identified, One Juvenile Arrested

A Waycross Police officer’s patrol car was struck by gunfire during a pursuit of a vehicle connected to multiple felony crimes in the early morning hours of June 28, 2025. While one juvenile suspect has been arrested, authorities are actively searching for two other individuals believed to be involved.

At approximately 2:15 AM, Waycross Police attempted to stop a vehicle linked to several felonies. The vehicle fled, initiating a pursuit. During the chase, suspects inside the fleeing vehicle opened fire on the pursuing officer, striking the patrol car multiple times.

The suspects eventually abandoned their vehicle in a south side neighborhood, leading to a foot pursuit. This resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile, who has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and numerous other pending felony charges.

Authorities are now offering a reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Daquan Jerrell White, 20, and Kamar Anthony Boyd, 20, both of Waycross. Warrants have been issued for their arrests on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and multiple felony weapon charges.
