Two Mexican Nationals Charged After Assaulting Federal Deportation Officers in Georgia

Ricardo Trejo-Martinez and Hector Beltran-Ledesma, both citizens of Mexico unlawfully present in the United States, were charged this week with assaulting or resisting federal deportation officers in separate incidents. Beltran-Ledesma also faces an additional charge of illegal reentry after deportation.
According to U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg, Trejo-Martinez was stopped by a deportation officer on May 20, 2025, on a four-lane highway in Commerce, Georgia. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Authorities say he refused to provide identification and, once ordered out of the vehicle, shoved the officer into the highway while traffic passed.
On June 21, 2025, two deportation officers located Hector Beltran-Ledesma outside his residence in Roswell, Georgia. As the officers attempted to arrest him, Beltran-Ledesma allegedly tried to flee and resisted arrest with force. He had previously been removed from the United States.
“These men endangered law enforcement officers doing their duty,” said U.S. Attorney Hertzberg. “Our office will hold accountable anyone who violently obstructs federal law enforcement.”
Steven N. Schrank, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Georgia and Alabama, added, “Violence and physical resistance against law enforcement will never be tolerated. These arrests reflect our continued commitment to officer safety and public security.”
Both cases are being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The charges remain allegations at this stage, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
