Man Flees on Bicycle After Armed Robbery at Macon Academy Sports

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday afternoon, June 24, at Academy Sports + Outdoors located at 1689 Eisenhower Parkway.

According to reports, the incident was called into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center at 12:46 p.m. Witnesses stated that a male suspect entered the store and took several pieces of merchandise. When a store clerk confronted him as he attempted to leave without paying, the suspect brandished a firearm and pointed it at the employee.

The suspect then fled the scene on a bicycle, heading north on Key Street. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The suspect is described as a Black male between 30 and 40 years old, approximately six feet tall, wearing a black t-shirt and gray pants.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case. Surveillance images of the suspect have been released to aid in identifying him.
