Richmond County SWAT Safely Resolves Armed Standoff Involving 70-Year-Old Man

In the early morning hours of June 13, 2025, Richmond County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic incident at a residence on the 300 block of Indian Trail Court.

The complainant informed deputies that her 70-year-old husband was inside the home armed with a firearm and possibly experiencing medical or mental health issues. Upon entering the residence, deputies heard two gunshots and were unable to get the man to exit the home.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team was called to the scene and successfully entered the residence, apprehending the armed individual without injury. He was turned over to medical personnel and transported to a hospital for evaluation.

Nearby residents were evacuated during the incident but have since returned to their homes. No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
