High-Speed Chase in Jones County Ends in Arrest of Three Suspects After Car Break-In

A high-speed pursuit early Thursday morning led to the arrest of three suspects following a car break-in and attempted vehicle theft.

Around 4 a.m. on June 12, 2025, Jones County Deputy Sullivan was traveling on Gray Highway when a silver Dodge van entered his lane head-on. When Deputy Sullivan activated his emergency lights and siren, the van fled, initiating a pursuit.

The van briefly stopped on Joycliff Road at John Michael Drive, where Deputy Sullivan observed several masked individuals inside and what appeared to be a weapon in the backseat. As he ordered the driver to exit, the van sped off once again.

Deputies continued the pursuit as the van drove without headlights and attempted to evade spike strips near Highway 49. A damaged tire eventually shredded, causing the van to crash into a yard in Bibb County, striking a basketball goal. Four occupants fled on foot.

A juvenile suspect was quickly apprehended and admitted to breaking into a nearby vehicle. K-9 Deputy Ribeiro and K-9 Jones assisted in tracking down two additional suspects behind an abandoned school on Millerfield Road. Deputies also discovered a damaged Hyundai Sonata at a nearby dealership that the group had attempted to steal.

All three suspects were charged with entering auto. Two were transported to a juvenile detention facility. The fourth suspect, believed to be the driver, remains unidentified.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office credited the coordinated efforts of its deputies, Bibb County authorities, and K-9 Jones for bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.
