Manhunt Underway After Armed Suspects Fire on Laurens County Deputies During Pursuit

Earlier today, Thursday, June 12, 2025, Laurens County deputies attempted to stop a stolen vehicle carrying armed suspects. During the pursuit, the suspects opened fire on deputies before crashing the vehicle in McRae near the intersection of U.S. 441 and Highway 280.

Multiple shots were fired at officers on the ground. Following the crash, two suspects fled on foot and remain at large. A large law enforcement presence is actively searching the area.

Authorities have urged residents in McRae and nearby areas to lock all doors and windows, avoid leaving keys in vehicles, stay indoors, and report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911.

UPDATE: Both suspect in the high-risk pursuit and shooting incident have been captured. No deputies, no other law enforcement officers, and no members of the public were injured.
