Camden County Deputy’s Traffic Stop Leads to Large Drug Seizure, Felony Arrest

Early Thursday morning, June 12th, Camden County Deputy Lasko conducted a traffic stop in St. Marys for a window tint violation that quickly escalated into a significant drug bust.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Lasko detected a strong odor of marijuana and requested backup to perform a lawful search. A bag of marijuana was found in the center console. With assistance from a St. Marys Police Department investigator, a search of the trunk uncovered a large duffle bag also filled with marijuana.

Field testing revealed the presence of fentanyl mixed with the marijuana, increasing the risk to users, law enforcement, and the public.

The driver, Isaiah Beatty, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended or revoked, window tint violation, and possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance.

Sheriff Kevin Chaney stated, “Let this be a clear message: we will not tolerate the trafficking or distribution of illegal drugs in Camden County. If you choose to bring drugs into our community, you will be caught and you will be held accountable.”

Deputies and law enforcement partners continue their efforts to keep Camden County safe.
