Arrest Made in Fatal Newton County Hit-and-Run

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in connection with the fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on June 2, 2025, on Highway 36, just south of Hummingbird Lane.

On Wednesday morning, June 11th, Newton County deputies took Joseph Ghebraamlak, 17, of Gwinnett, into custody. He has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and hit-and-run, and is currently booked into the Newton County Detention Center.

Sheriff Ezell Brown extended his deepest condolences to the family of the victim, Dominic Flowers. He also expressed appreciation for the tireless efforts of all agencies and personnel who assisted in the investigation and arrest, including the Newton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, the Alcovy Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, the Snellville Police Department, and the Loganville Police Department.
