Albany Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting at Exxon Gas Station

On June 10, 2025, Albany Police arrested 45-year-old Timothy Timmons in connection with the June 7th shooting death of 41-year-old Nikita McGriff.
The shooting occurred at an Exxon gas station located on N. Slappey Blvd. Shortly after the incident, officers located a vehicle in the 500 block of 9th Avenue. The vehicle was still running and had two bullet holes in the rear driver’s side door. McGriff was found in the passenger seat suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and arm. He was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
During the investigation, Albany Police released photos of two persons of interest, who were later cleared. Further investigation led detectives to identify Timmons as the suspect. He was taken into custody and transported to the Dougherty County Jail.
Timmons is charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During Certain Crimes. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 229-436-TIPS or an investigator at 229-302-0794.
