Three Fires Strike DeKalb County in One Day; Two Injured, Cat Rescued by Firefighters

DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department’s B-Shift crews responded to a series of fires on Thursday across the County, including incidents in Chamblee, Clarkston, and Decatur.
Crews first responded to a blaze at a vacant home. Firefighters were able to bring the situation under control quickly, with no reported injuries.
In a separate incident, a fire broke out at an occupied residence. One occupant sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Firefighters also successfully rescued the family’s cat during the response.
The most serious of the day’s incidents involved an apartment fire that originated on the ground floor and extended to the third level. Two residents were injured during the evacuation and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
DeKalb County Fire Rescue continues to investigate the causes of each fire.
