Suspect Fatally Shot After Attacking Off-Duty Fulton County Officer with Metal Pipe

A man was fatally shot Sunday morning after attacking a Fulton County Police Officer with a metal pipe during an attempted vehicle break-in.

The incident occurred on June 1, 2025, around 7:40 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex on McDaniel Street in the City of Atlanta, where the officer was working a security job.

According to authorities, the officer confronted an individual who was breaking into the officer’s marked patrol vehicle. The suspect then charged at the officer while wielding a metal pipe. The officer responded by firing his weapon in self-defense. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is currently handling the investigation.
