Two Men Arrested After Shots Fired at Private Event in Covington Park

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on May 25, 2025, during a private event at Academy Springs Park.

Covington Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired at the park and secured the scene upon arrival. Detectives launched an investigation into what was determined to be an aggravated assault.

Investigators identified and apprehended both suspects by May 28. According to police, the suspects—Levester Taylor of Atlanta and Dy’men Henderson of Lawrenceville—had traveled from the Atlanta area to attend the event. An argument broke out between the suspects and the victims, culminating in Taylor firing shots at the victims in the parking lot. Both suspects then returned to the Atlanta area.

  • Two counts of Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by First Offender
  • Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree
• Dy’men Henderson (Lawrenceville, GA) was charged with:
  • Two counts of Aggravated Assault
  • Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree
  • Giving False Statements

The investigation is ongoing.
