Traffic Stop on I-20 Leads to Arrest of Four Men, Seizure of Six Firearms, Three with Machine Gun Conversions

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Haralson County Deputy Michael Manson conducted a traffic stop on a white Dodge Charger with illegally tinted windows along Interstate 20. The stop, part of the Crime Suppression Operational Interstate Task Force initiative, led to the arrest of four individuals and the recovery of six firearms, including three modified with illegal machine conversion devices (MCDs).

Deputy Manson, detecting the odor of marijuana upon approaching the vehicle, asked the driver for identification. The driver admitted he did not possess a license. Deputy Chad Sheriff arrived to assist, and the occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. During the process, deputies noticed one of the passengers moving items inside the car.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed six firearms. Three of the weapons were equipped with illegal switches (MCDs), and one was confirmed stolen out of Tennessee via the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC). All four male occupants were taken into custody and booked at the Haralson County Detention Center.

Arrested individuals and charges:

  • David Antonio Huggins, 19, of Memphis, TN – Driving While Unlicensed, Tint Violation, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Use of an Article with an Altered Identification Mark.
  • Tyrese Dwayne White, 20, of Memphis, TN – Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Use of an Article with an Altered Identification Mark.
  • Marcorellis Lanorris Burns, 21, of Memphis, TN – Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Use of an Article with an Altered Identification Mark.
  • Taequan Herndon, 19, of Douglasville, GA – Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Criminal Use of an Article with an Altered Identification Mark.

Sheriff Stacy Williams stated, “This is yet another case where traffic enforcement makes a big difference. We not only recovered a stolen weapon but were able to take three dangerous and illegal firearms off the streets.”
