Man Fatally Shot After Confrontation at Child’s Mother’s Home in Albany

On Sunday, May 26, 2025, around 9:12 p.m., Albany Police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 500 block of Swift Street.

According to investigators, Emory Jones, 28, arrived at his child’s mother’s residence and found 25-year-old Morris Rogers inside. Jones reportedly demanded that Rogers leave and then swung at him, sparking a physical altercation. During the struggle, Rogers shot Jones multiple times.

Jones was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Rogers was arrested at the scene and interviewed by investigators. He has been charged with Murder, four counts of Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During Certain Crimes.
