Month-Long Drug Surveillance Operation Leads to Methamphetamine Arrest in Towns County

A month-long surveillance operation and concentrated patrols by Towns County Sheriff’s Office Drug Investigators culminated in a traffic stop on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, leading to the arrest of a Young Harris man on multiple methamphetamine-related charges.
Information gathered from the traffic stop provided probable cause for investigators to search a residence on Woods Grove Road. During the search, a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine was confiscated.
James Harrell Moore III, 44, of Young Harris, was arrested and charged with:
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
- Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
- Misdemeanor Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects
The investigation by the Towns County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.
