Andrew Medders

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has arrested Andrew Medders, a full-time teacher with the Camden County School System and part-time employee with Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), in connection with allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a student. Medders was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Office at 6:06 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

The investigation began on May 19, 2025, when the Kingsland Police Department received a report involving a Camden County School System teacher. Following a preliminary investigation, the case was referred to the St. Marys Police Department. Due to the multi-jurisdictional nature of the allegations, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office assumed lead responsibility for the investigation.

Medders was immediately relieved of his classroom duties by the Camden County School System and has also been relieved of his part-time duties by the Camden County Board of Commissioners pending the investigation.

Sheriff Kevin Chaney emphasized the seriousness of the allegations: “We are taking this matter extremely seriously. Our priority is always the safety and trust of our students, staff, and the greater community, and my office is committed to conducting a thorough and impartial investigation while working closely with our law enforcement partners, the Camden County School System, and the Camden County Board of Commissioners. We will continue to uphold the trust placed in us by this community.”

In accordance with Georgia law [O.C.G.A. ยง 16-6-5.1], it is a felony offense for individuals in positions of authority, such as educators, to engage in sexual contact with students, regardless of age or consent. The CCSO is working to ensure the case proceeds through appropriate legal channels.

As this remains an active investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
