Wilkinson County Teacher Arrested for Holding Scissors to Student’s Throat

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged Jamel Mikal Ashley, 46, of Danville, Wilkinson County, GA, with Aggravated Assault and Cruelty to Children. Ashley is a teacher at Wilkinson County Middle School.  

On Monday, May 12, 2025, the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate allegations of aggravated assault involving a teacher and a student at the middle school in Irwinton, GA.  

The GBI investigation revealed that while in a classroom at Wilkinson County Middle School, Ashley approached a student and held a pair of scissors to the student’s throat.  

Ashley was arrested and has been booked into the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
