Bacon County Man Charged with Murder Following Fatal Drive-By Shooting

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged Anthony Dwayne Johnson, 34, of Alma, GA, in connection with the death of 50-year-old Antonious Brinson, also of Alma. Johnson faces charges of Felony Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during a crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon.

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, the Alma Police Department requested the GBI to investigate the death of Brinson. At approximately 4:30 p.m., Bacon County 911 received a report of a shooting in the 200 block of East 6th Street in Alma. Responding officers found that Brinson had been shot and killed after witnesses reported a car driving by and firing multiple gunshots toward a house.

Brinson was transported to Bacon County Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

The subsequent investigation identified Anthony Dwayne Johnson as the individual responsible for the shooting. Later that same night, Johnson was located at a local motel and taken into custody without incident. He has been booked into the Bacon County Jail.

An autopsy will be performed on Brinson at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler, Georgia.
