Auburn Man Sentenced to Life Plus 90 Years for Violent Home Invasion and Sexual Assault

An Auburn man has been sentenced to life in prison plus 90 years after being found guilty of a brutal home invasion and sexual assault. Christopher Raymond Clamp, 53, received the lengthy sentence for a series of charges including aggravated sodomy, kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, first-degree burglary, aggravated stalking, felony battery-family violence, misdemeanor terroristic threats, and misdemeanor hindering an emergency telephone call.
The conviction and sentencing followed an incident on January 16, 2022, when Gwinnett County police responded to a wellness check at a residence and found the victim in distress with multiple injuries. The woman reported that Clamp had forced his way into her home, physically assaulted her over two days by hitting and choking her, and subjected her to sexual assault. She also stated that Clamp had previously sent threatening emails and prevented her from calling 9-1-1 after breaking into her home.
During the trial, prosecutors presented the victim’s compelling testimony, along with threatening emails and photographic evidence of her injuries. The jury deliberated for just 35 minutes before returning guilty verdicts on all counts.
District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson commended the victim’s bravery in facing her attacker in court, expressing hope that the verdict and sentence would aid in her recovery. The case was prosecuted by Managing Assistant District Attorneys Han Chung and Angela Mattozzi, with support from the Special Victims Unit Investigator Joseph Boyd and Victim Witness Advocates Shenita Coward and Rocio Pineda. The Gwinnett County Police Department was also acknowledged for their crucial role in the investigation.
