Utah Woman Found Shot to Death in Atlanta Wooded Area Identified

The woman found dead in a wooded area of northwest Atlanta has been identified as 20-year-old Angela Yajahira Cortes Villegas of Utah.

On April 20, 2025, at approximately 5:54 p.m., officers with the Atlanta Police Department responded to a report of an unresponsive person at 2000 Marietta Boulevard NW. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Homicide Unit investigators responded and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

On April 25, authorities publicly identified the victim as Angela Yajahira Cortes Villegas. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
