Lilburn Man Sentenced to Life Plus Five Years for Years-Long Abuse of Two Siblings

Forty-year-old Rodolfo Grimaldo-Sanchez of Lilburn has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, plus an additional five years, after being convicted of multiple counts of rape and child molestation. The charges stemmed from the molestation and sexual abuse of two siblings that spanned at least six years.
Gwinnett District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson expressed satisfaction with the trial’s outcome, stating, “We are pleased with the results of this trial and pray that the victims are comforted by this outcome. These victims’ courage to face this defendant in court saved their younger siblings and helped begin their paths to healing.”
Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Grimaldo-Sanchez began abusing the brother and sister separately when they each reached the age of 8 and continued until they reached puberty. Years later, the now 19-year-old brother and 16-year-old sister confided in each other about the abuse and subsequently informed their mother to protect their two younger brothers. Their mother then contacted the police.
Both siblings testified during the trial, and a Gwinnett County jury found Grimaldo-Sanchez guilty on all charges. The case was prosecuted by Special Victims Unit Assistant District Attorney Nicole Eck and Managing Assistant District Attorney Mikaela Henderson, with support from SVU Investigator Damisi Gray and Victim Witness Advocate Rocio Pineda.
