Gilmer County Man Indicted for Using AI to Create Child Sex Abuse Material

A Gilmer County man has been indicted on 76 counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children for allegedly using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to manipulate ordinary photographs into child sex abuse material (CSAM).

The Gilmer County Grand Jury indicted 48-year-old Ronald Richardson on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, with the indictment being officially filed on Wednesday, April 23.

Richardson was arrested on January 17, 2025, following an extensive investigation by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office and has remained in custody since. The Office of the DeKalb County District Attorney is serving as conflict prosecutor in the case at the request of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia.

Richardson is scheduled for arraignment on the charges outlined in the indictment. The investigation into Richardson remains active and ongoing, and additional charges may be presented for indictment based on further findings.
