North Atlanta Homeowner Suspects ‘Swatting Attempt’ After False Report of Shooting

Atlanta Police officers responded to a residence on Club Dr. NE late Tuesday night after a 911 call reported a person had been shot at that location. However, upon arrival, officers found no victim and were unable to contact the caller despite multiple attempts.

Officers made contact with the homeowner whose address was used in the 911 call. The homeowner and all occupants were unharmed. After officers explained the situation, the homeowner suggested the call might have been a “swatting attempt” due to her professional background.

“Swatting” is a hoax call to emergency services intended to provoke a large law enforcement response. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
